We'll be flying out to Seattle. Our kids have flown before, so I'm not too worried about the flights. My husband is going ahead of us to start work and find a house. I'm hoping that most things will be settled and organised before we bring the kids out in the spring.

Did you have many issues with your oldest asking about the old house and the friends you'd left behind after you got here? I expect that the kids aren't going to understand the distance... and that they'll be asking to see people and go places that are 7000km away like they are just around the corner.
