Help! Market Research for Indoor Playground 3 Years, 11 Months ago
Okay moms, I need your ideas and feedback. I am doing some research for the demand of opening a medium-sized indoor playground in the Halifax area. If all goes well, I anticipate an opening by the end of this year.

Would you use something like this during our long winter months, or dreadfully hot, sunny days?

So, in a nutshell, this facility will be geared towards children ages 1-8yrs, with a fabulous MULTI-LEVEL soft playground for great ACTIVE play. It will be a cozy place for moms/dads to bring their children for playdates away from home- to chat with others in the community - give their children time to play and socialize with other kids. And, you can bring your own snacks!

The playground will not be too big (so that you can keep an eye on your children at all times) yet, not too small (enough to promote running!) Birthday parties can be private because you will be able to rent the WHOLE facility without busting the bank!

Please let me know your thoughts - I was a fan of these in Ontario and I feel that, being a SAH mom with 2 children, one is needed here (i.e. one where you can bring BOTH your 1 year old AND 6 year old and have them literally exhausted from their share of fun, active play!)

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hey Jen!

I would love it! I am in Sackville and I go every week to the Vineyard's indoor playground for younger kids. It's awesome but school age kids are not allowed. Something along those lines would be great though! I like the price too.. 2$ !
Now.. we have been to ON the Grow and it's okay... a little small for me.. and I think it's too small for the older kids who enjoy the climbing. Oh.. and the price.. UG!

It's a nice treat to go to a cafe and have all of that, but something that is cheaper without the frills would be great!

Good luck!!!

Lisa

Hi Jen,

I Love your idea!!! Mainly because I'm in Boston, Ma and I'm planning my own indoor playground too. Just like you, I hope to open by the end of the year. I'm still researching and tryting to start a business plan. I don't know what stage you're in, but maybe we can help each other through the process. What do you think? It doesn't seem like we'll be competitors anyways so why not share our thoughts.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Lisa, I have never heard of this "vineyard's indoor playground" can you tell me more about it?

Thanks

I'd love something like this. We had a birthday party at the Funzone at Dalplex last year. It was awesome, but what a fuss--you have to get a pass to get in and out, and they only give you one pass, so they tell you to have everyone meet in the lobby and go up together. But anytime anyone wants to go to the washroom, they need to leave using the pass. And any latecomers needed to be let in individually. It was awesome, but a real hassle. So somewhere like that that wasn't in a place requiring electronic passes to get past secure doors would be great!
