New to HRM 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Hello fellow parents!

My name is Nadia, and I have recently moved to Shearwater with my husband and our 14 month old son from Ontario, so it's quite the culture shock!

So far, we're loving it here. We would love to get together with other mom's (or dad's) for coffee/playdates. Weekends usually work better for us since I have gone back to work, and hubby is in the military (our schedules sometimes clash).

Hope to get to know you all better!

Hi Nadia, and welcome to Nova Scotia and HRM Parent! You might want to try posting in the "Playdates/Playgroups" section of the forums saying you are looking for weekend playdates. Also I think there was a thread about a weekend playgroup from the fall - there was a reasonable amount of interest, but I'm not quite sure what happened with it. You might also want to check out the weekend activities at your local library - that's always a good place to meet local parents. Good luck!

Hello and welcome!

We're still in Ontario but will likely be moving to Halifax over the summer. There seems to be many of us who are flocking that way!

Hi, you will love it here! Which part do you think you will move to and when! The weather has been beautiful and there is so much to do!
There are a few local websites that will help you keep up to date with what is going on if that helps? district2news.com and myfallriver.ca are both great local websites that I know of and use lots to keep up with local news and events obviously HRM parent is my top website for great info!
If you need any info prior to moving over let us all know we will help!

Hi Nadia

I own and run Sticky kids which is in Fall River, not too far from you, I have lots of military families who come in to meet other moms while the children play as Sticky Kids.

I have also noticed a lot of moms are now arranging their playdates to meet at sticky kids as the children don't fell too territorial over their toys so the playdate is more relaxing for parents!

One thing I have learnt and see daily through SK is that there are so many fantastic parents here who all want to meet new parents and just chat and become friends.

Jenny

Thanks for the welcome! The only thing I have noticed is that there is nothing in either Halifax or Dartmouth where kids can play indoors and parents can relax and have a cup of coffee, everything seems to be in either Bedford or Bayer's Lake...which is quite frankly out of my way when we only have 1 vehicle. Unless anybody knows of anywhere that I have not yet googled...lol..
