DH is going to Dal, so we're up-rooting from ON. 2 Years ago
Hello,

I'm a 27yo French Teacher from Ontario. My husband has decided to pursue some post-secondary education and we're feeling ready for an adventure anyhow, so it's off to Halifax we go!

We'll be moving sometime over the summer, and leaving friends and family behind so I'm determined to be out-going and find some new folks to form friendships with and build a new support system.

DS is 4yo. We parent by following our gut, only to find out that almost everything we've been doing actually has a label and is quite "AP" (attachement parenting). We do our best to live naturally and within our means.

Looking forward to looking around and getting a sense of the community. This was my first stop on the forum.

See you around!

P.S. if anyone has any tips or leads on teaching jobs, my ears are wide open!

Hi eirual

New adventures are great! Welcome (almost!) to Halifax! Do you have any idea of where you will be living? Will your son be starting school in September?

Great to 'see' you here!

Charmaine

Welcome eirual!
I suspect that maybe you'll be living fairly close to downtown Hfx if he's going to go to Dal? Good for you for embracing this change! The East Coast is amazing!! (I just moved to the HRM from Ontario 8 months ago but spent the first 17 years of my life in NB!)

So much for you to do over the next while . . . Are you teaching now too? I used to teach French in Ontario (elementary core), but haven't looked into positions here, so can't help you out in that respect, although if you can teach FI, I'm pretty sure you could find a job . . .

Feel free to send me a personal message if you like. (I'll be signing my ds up for Primary this week!)

I hope you both enjoy the East Coast. I am guessing you are already looking on the school board web pages to find a spot? You are lucky, as a French teacher you should have little problem - a good friend of mine was offered a permanent position her first year of substituting, which is rare for other types of teachers. You could also look at the web pages for local private schools, and there are also a few language schools around I believe.
