Details: The purpose of the Northern Lights Lantern Festival is to bring people together to celebrate the richness of the North End community. Although this event centers on lantern-making workshops (designed for a variety of skill and dexterity levels), it is also a time to build community pride, respect and awareness. Participants enjoy a community barbeque, a lantern parade after dusk, and an evening concert featuring local musicians – all topped off with a great fireworks finale.
- lantern-making and musical shaker-making
- face-painting
- lots of activities and games
- bouncy castles
- a free community BBQ starting around 5:30 (hot dogs and drinks)
- a petting zoo and pony rides from Hatfield Farms
- open mic starts around 5:30 (people should get there earlier to sign up, all ages welcome)
- the music acts on the main stage follow the open mic. We have an awesome line up this year: Crissi Cochrane (aka Save September), Teah Bailey, Kenny MacKay and his Dixieland Band, Tony Smith and Soul Finesse, the Sanctified Brothers, and Universal Soul.
- the Parade of Lanterns (and shakers!) will be at 9pm
- fireworks at 10pm. |
